About

The Art of Being Human is a blog dedicated to living life and being human.  It was inspired one day a few years ago while walking my dog down a path in rural part of France.  I spied another dog walking along the path and did what any good Anglo-Saxon would do:  I called my dog over and put him on the lead.  The guy whose dog was approaching me asked me if my dog was violent with other dogs, I said know, then asked me if my dog was sick, I said no, then he got angry at me said “why did you put it on a lead then” (or the Occitinian French equivilent thereof) and proceeded to berade me about how dog should be allowed to be dogs.

This got me thinking:  surely this is one of the big problems facing, at the very least, the Anglo-Saxon world.  Whether its the old Victorian prudity or the post-modern politically correct version thereof, there is a historical tendency in the Anglo-Saxon world to shun life.  To try so hard to fit it, not make a fus, and generally be as emotionless as possible.  The goal of this blog is to explore the Art of Being Human, to learning how to live life and enjoy all the love, joy, hate and dispare that life offers.
